Josh Robbins was 23 when he looked around at many extended family members—all trapped in addiction—and realized he didn’t want to end up like them.

By then, he’d been drinking and using drugs since he was 11. At 15, he started using meth. By 17, he was making it, selling it, and shooting it up every day.

He’d been through recovery programs before—but never seriously. This time was different.

“I took a look around at a lot of my family members and people I was around,” Josh says. “I really didn’t want to end up stuck in it.”

That’s when he started seeking help.

After seven rehabs failed to address the root of his addiction, Josh Robbins found lasting freedom through faith-based transitional living at Redeemed Living.

Seven Rehabs—and Still Missing Something

Josh went through seven rehab programs in his early 20s. Some helped him get clean. But none of them helped him stay clean.

“A lot of them really weren’t helping me get to the root issues of why I used,” Josh explains. “Or really even helping me build a relationship with the Lord. A lot of them tried to pretend to be Christian, but they were very secular.”

After two years at a long-term regeneration program—Josh knew he needed something more. He needed a place where he could transition back into the real world without being thrown into it unprepared.

That’s when he contacted Redeemed Living.

The Forgotten Step: Where Faith Meets the Real World

Josh spent two years at Redeemed Living—and it changed everything.

“It helped me transition back out into the world without being thrown into it,” Josh says. “You still have your meetings, the Bible study, and accountability. But you’re also out there working, living life—where the rubber meets the road.”

At Redeemed, Josh found:

  1. Accountability + Freedom “You’re given enough rope to hang yourself, if you need to say it that way. You’re learning to live in the real world—but with support.”

  2. Authentic Faith “Redeemed was real,” Josh says. “It wasn’t pretending to be Christian. It was authentic.”

  3. A Brotherhood That Lasts “A lot of the guys that come in and out there become really good friends of mine. I still keep in touch with them every day to this day.”

A Career, a Wife, and a Family

Josh didn’t just find sobriety at Redeemed Living.

He found a career. He met his wife. And today, he’s a father to a nine-month-old.

“I made a career there,” Josh says. “I ended up meeting my wife and got married—and that’s when I moved out.”

Today, Josh works with the guys at Outdoor Living and stays connected to the Redeemed community.

“I’m not as involved as I’d like to be,” Josh admits. “Being married and having a nine-month-old keeps me busy. But the guys there are still my friends. We’re still in community.”
